Systems Control Facility

1959

W.J. Brule purchases M.J. Electric, an appliance repair shop located in Iron Mountain, Michigan, from Marshall Potterud. The basis for a nationally recognized electrical construction company is born.

1962

Recognizing a need for a good control panel manufacturer, W.J. Brule forms Systems Control as a division of M.J. Electric. Systems Control soon gains national recognition as a premiere designer and manufacturer of control and relay panels, as wells as medium-voltage switchgear.

1972

Systems Control supplies its first-class 1E panel for TVA® Sequoyah nuclear power plant. Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, Systems Control supplies numerous 1E qualified main control boards, instrumentation racks and relay panels, as well as seismically qualified cable trays to many nuclear plants throughout the U.S.

1985

Production of THE BOSS Snowplow begins alongside Systems Control's other products.

1999

Systems Control implements "Flow" manufacturing processes to better serve its growing business.

2000

M.J. Electric is sold. Systems Control ownership adopts the name Northern Star Industries, Inc.

2002

Lean manufacturing philosophies are adopted by Systems Control as a commitment to ongoing improvement in every facet of the company.

2005

Northern Star Industries, Inc. purchases a 100,000 square foot manufacturing building and 60 acres of property for Systems Control, the relay panel and Substation Control Center business unit.

2006

Systems Control occupies the 100,000 square foot manufacturing building and a new 11,000 square foot office addition.

2007

Systems Control completes renovation of all 100,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space for relay and control panels and Substation Control Centers.

2008

Construction of the 5,000 square foot office expansion is complete.
